Action plan for Naxal-hit villages

WARANGAL: The district administration has prepared an action plan for the comprehensive development of about 100 Naxalite-affected villages in remote areas. An estimated amount of Rs 113 crore would be spend in the first phase.

Several tribal villages in Mulugu and Narsampeta revenue division have been identified for the creation of infrastructure and other amenities.

In all, about 360 villages were identified for the purpose. But only 100 were chosen for carrying developmental activities in the first phase.

Principle secretary Sastry recently reviewed the modalities of the programme with the district collector and superintendent of police.

Major chunk of allocation, Rs 75.34 crore would be spent on laying of roads for 410 kilo metres in agency areas. An amount of Rs 4.53 crore would be spent for Safety drinking water and Rs 7.8 crore towards medical assistance for villagers.

For bringing the lands distributed by the government into cultivation, works with Rs 2.5 crore would be undertaken. An amount of Rs 1.79 crore will be spend on restoration of irrigation tanks.

According to action plan, the Integrated Tribal Development Agency will get Rs 13.77 crore for creation of infrastructure, tribal welfare hostels and employment generation.
